Mr. Gary Lamar Hughes, age 65, of 445 Tallapoosa East Church Rd., Buchanan passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2007. Mr. Hughes was born in Calhoun County, Alabama on August 21, 1941. He was the son of the late Carl Edward Hughes and Juanita Nix Ezell of Buchanan. Mr. Hughes was a retired meat cutter. Survivors besides his mother include six daughters, Julie Friedrich of Kansas City, MO, Donna Hadden of Garden Grove, CA, Cynthia Stephens of Buchanan, Stephanie Harper of Waco, Anita Gann of Bremen, Christie Hembree of Temple; three sons, Ricky Hughes of Phelan, CA, Scottie Hughes of Vista, CA and Tim Hughes of Buchanan; one sister, Rita Brown of Rockmart; one brother, Edward Leon Hughes of Buchanan; nineteen grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 1:00 P.m. from the New Liberty Baptist Church in Yorkville with Rev. Billy Swift, Rev. Calvin Brown and Rev. Robert Pyles officiating. Music will be rendered by Rita Brown and Michael Johnson. Interment will follow in the New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Joe Hembree, Drid Harper, Aree Harper, Steven Gann, Jamey Hughes and Eddie Hughes. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
