Mr. Fred Payton, age 72, of Buchanan passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017.  Mr. Payton was born in Buchanan, Georgia, on September 7, 1945.  He was the son of the late Alfred Lee Payton and the late Ruth Costley Payton.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Payton.

Survivors include one sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Fred Hammond of Bremen; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Kathy Payton of Buchanan; one sister-in-law, Frances Payton of Buchanan; three nieces; two nephews; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 15, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Bro. Ricky Shirley and Rev. Aaron Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in Tallapoosa East Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Chris Bacon, Mark Moore, Brandon Hammond, Michael Davidson, Jon Henderson and Rocky Rochester.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Adam Smith, Abby Smith, Addie Hammond, Zachary Watson and Donnie Payton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
