Mr. Frank West Griffith, age 81, of Cedartown passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008. Mr. Griffith was born in Haralson County on November 24, 1926. He was the son of the late Jim Frank Griffith and the late Apphia West Griffith. Mr. Griffith was a veteran of the United States Navy serving on the Battleship Portsmouth, and also served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam as a member of the National Guard. Mr. Griffith later worked for the U.S. State Department and for Lockheed Martin where he retired. He was a long time Explorer Troop Leader with the Boy Scouts, member of the Cedartown Kiwanis Club and volunteer with the Polk County Fair. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Shannon. Survivors include his wife, Francis Pappas Griffith of Cedartown; three daughters and one son-in-law, Lynn Ferguson of Lake Tahoe, CA, Michele Armstrong of Reno, NV and Edie and Shawn Sutton of Covington; one brother and sister-in-law, J. Mac and Sara Ann Griffith of Buchanan; one aunt, Mrs. Len Buice of Cedartown; three grandchildren, Trish Carballar, Weslee Ferguson and Sierra Sutton; two great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Memorial service will be conducted Friday, September 19, 2008 at 12 Noon from Saint Bernadette''s Catholic Church in Cedartown.
