Mrs. Eunice Beatrice Carden Whitton, age 93, of Buchanan passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016.  Mrs. Whitton was born in Haralson County, Georgia on August 9, 1922.  She was the daughter of the late Ed Carden and the late Effie Barkwell Carden.  Mrs. Carden was a retired seamstress with Darsey Manufacturing in Tallapoosa.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur James Whitton; and one sister, Vivian Weaver.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Hugh Harden of Buchanan; one son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Levoyd and Pat Whitton of Tunnel Hill; one brother and sister-in-law, James Edward and Betty Ann Carden of Tallapoosa; four grandchildren, Eric Whitton, Paul Whitton, Renae Bell, Geoffrey Harden; six great grandchildren, Rebekah Zimmerman, Lee Whitton, Maci Whitton, Bayley Whitton, Jeremiah Bell and Clayton Bell; three great great grandchildren, Avery Zimmerman, Addy Zimmerman and Penelope Bell; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. from Buchanan First Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Wilburn and Rev. Paul Whitton officiating.  Music will be rendered by Geoffrey Harden.  Interment will follow in Buchanan City Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Eric Whitton, Lee Whitton, Adam Zimmerman, Jeremiah Bell, Clayton Bell, Jerry Bell and Donald Bell.

Mrs. Whitton will lie in state at the Church Tuesday morning from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
