Mrs. Elsie Irene Grant Philpot, age 103, of 32 Club Rd., Buchanan passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010. Mrs. Philpot was born in Cedartown, Georgia on May 30, 1907. She was the daughter of the late George Grant and the late Mollie Jane Jiles Grant. Mrs. Philpot was a homemaker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Virgil Philpot and one son, Emory Philpot. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Jim Bowman of Phenix City, AL and Mattie and Ronnie Martin of Griffin; three sons and daughters-in-law, Artemus and Joyce Philpot of Buchanan, Harold and Velda Philpot of Buchanan and Commodore and Nan Philpot of Buchanan; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; caregivers, Elizabeth Irey and Donnella Helton; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Thomas Ward and Rev. Ronnie Holmes officiating. Music will rendered by Rev. Buddy Gentry. Interment will follow in the Tallapoosa East Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Craig Philpot, Joey Philpot, Calvin Philpot, Andy Richie, Chris Easterwood and Ben Shealey. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
