Mr. Elmer Eugene Owens, age 69, of Tallapoosa passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014.  Mr. Owens was born in Haralson County on April 30, 1945.  He was the son of the late Junis Owens and the late Lessie Mae Miller Owens.  Mr. Owens was retired from Waste Management where he worked as a serviceman.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Boyce and Ruby Gibson; and one brother, Bobby Owens.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Helen Norton Owens of Tallapoosa; two sons and two daughters-in-law, James E. and Rochelle Owens of Bremen and Michael and Crystal Wood Owens of Tallapoosa; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Jeanette and Hollis Gray of Buchanan, Betty Lou Hindmon of Mableton and Dorothy Howard of Cedartown; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Helen Owens of Bremen; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. (EST) from Mount Paran Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Pike and Rev. Jason Hudgens officiating.  Interment will follow in Mount Paran Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
