Mr. Elliott Jerome Hammond, age 68, of Buchanan passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011. Mr. Hammond was born in Newnan, Georgia on December 10, 1942. He was the son of the late Grover Hammond and the late Flossie Lee Wallace Hammond. Mr. Hammond was a retired evangelist and carpenter. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Austin Hammond. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Pope Hammond of Buchanan; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bill Pounds; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ricky Jerome Hammond of Birmingham and Paul and Lorri Hammond of Sharpsburg; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 12 Noon from the Graveside at Buchanan City Cemetery with Rev. Franklin Treadwell and Dr. J. Howard Mills officiating. Interment will follow in Buchanan City Cemetery. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
