Eleanor Marie "Mootsie" Roberts Jones age 87 of Bremen, passed away peacefully in her home on May 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy marked by love, devotion, and a deep appreciation for the written word. She was born on September 12, 1938, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Jack Roberts and Helen Gillisslee Daniels. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Morrell Jones, Sr, her son, Gary Roberts Jones, a granddaughter, Shaqualee Mosely, and her brothers, Arthur Roberts and Thomas Roberts.
Mootsie grew up in New York before returning to Savannah and later settling in Bremen. She attended Georgia State University, where she furthered her education. An avid reader, Mootsie found joy in books and treasured spending time with her family and friends. The loved ones she left behind hold dear the many moments shared and the profound impact she had on their lives. Her family and friends remember Eleanor Marie Jones, "Mootsie," with reverence and gratitude, honoring a life lived fully and a spirit that continues to inspire.
She is survived by her daughters, Christine Jones Brown of Bremen and Gail Jones of Augusta; her son Vincent Morrell Jones, Jr of Bremen; and her sister, Sandra J. Robinson of New York. To continue her legacy are her precious grandchildren Shonda (John Lennard) Devine, Marcus Lyons, Maressa Jones, Leon Brownlee, and Tabitha Kennedy. The joy of her life extended to great-grandchildren Khalia Lyons, Keziah Lyons, Kennadi Mosley, Madison Elmore, and Da'Mareiyonna Lyons, all of whom will carry her memory forward.
In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Jones will be cremated.
