Mr. Edward Leon Hughes, Sr., age 68, of 419 Morgan Rd., Buchanan passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Mr. Hughes was born in Dekalb County, Alabama on September 22 1939. He was the son of the late Carl Hughes and Juanita Nix Ezell of Buchanan. Mr. Hughes was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a truck driver. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Truman Hughes and Gary Hughes. Survivors besides mother include his wife, Patricia Greenwood Hughes of Buchanan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cherie and Jimmy Owen of Bremen and LeAnn and Howard Hurston of Mount Zion; three sons and daughters-in-law, Edward L. and Dina Hughes of Rockmart, Stuart Craig and Tina Hughes of Aragon and James L. and Jennifer Hughes of Rockmart; one sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Calvin Brown of Rockmart; fifteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 11:00 A.M from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Pyles and Rev. Wendell Hurston officiating. Music will be rendered by Nan Suppes, Paige Glath and Rita Brown. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Bremen with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Dustin Owen, Cody Owen, Brandon Owen, Evan Hughes, Jacob Hughes and Paul Hughes. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Josh Hughes, Samuel Hughes and Carson Hughes. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
