Edward LeBron Glasscock, age 79 of Carrollton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at his residence. Born in Rossville, Georgia, on February 26, 1945, he was the son of the late Berlin Edward Glasscock and the late Cynthia Shirley Glasscock. In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Hays Glasscock, and sisters, Jane Dedmon and Ruth Morton.
Edward enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 15, 1962, and was assigned to Company B 1st Airborne Division. He successfully completed the U.S. Airborne School and was also awarded the Parachutist Badge, the Expert Rifle Badge, and the Driver with Bar and 1st Class Gunner. During his career, Edward found his niche in sales for many years. He retired after working as a mortgage broker. Ed was a true 'tinkerer," and enjoyed finding things to work on and working in his yard. His favorite pastime was anything associated with NASCAR, and he also loved eating out.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Angie Glasscock of Carrollton; his children, Cyndi Hardie of Buchanan, Cheri (Kevin) Harris of Clem, Courtney (Trey) Greeson of Ranburne, Gracie Whaley of Carrollton, Kelly (Mark) Olvey of Ranburne, Jeri Lynn (Jason) Walker of Batesville, MS, and Michael Olvey of Ranburne, and his grandchildren: Zac, Allie, Kasie, Michael, Mitchell, Stacey, Brittany, Harley, David, Lisa and Krista. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren: Trippe, Izzy, Hanna, Kaylee, Mariah, Kambrie, Hudson, Landon, Tegan, Tenley, and Tatum Jo; his brother-in-law, Leroy Dedmon of Buchanan; and sister-in-law, Debbie (Mike) Bergner of Centre, Alabama; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Edward's wishes, he will be cremated. The family will host a memorial service for Ed at a later date.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan
