Mrs. Edna Brown Worthy, age 82, of 4933 Hwy. 120, Buchanan passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010. Mrs. Worthy was born in Haralson County on November 10, 1927. She was the daughter of the late James Horace Brown and the late Loney Weldon Brown. Mrs. Worthy was retired from Goodyear (Rockmart Plant). Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sara Weaver and Ruby Worthy; four brothers, V.W. Brown, Curtis Brown, Charles Brown and Travis Brown. Survivors include her husband, Roy Lee Worthy of Buchanan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Kenneth Bates of Buchanan and Freida and Randy Redden of Buchanan; one sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Howard Locklear; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Betty Brown of Carrollton; grandchildren and spouses, Kim and Todd Mullins, Kada and Robin Morris, Randa and John Smith and Misty and Dennis Price; great grandchildren and spouse, Brianne and Jeremy Church, Brandi Bagwell, Aiden Price and Jackson Smith; and a number of other relatives. Nana, as she was known to everyone, was a devoted wife of 64 years, precious mother and special grandmother. Not only did she deeply love "her girls," she also loved their husbands as if they were her own. As a devoted Christian, she enjoyed singing and fellowship with her extended Church family. She never met a stranger and was beloved by all who knew her. Nana enjoyed cooking for others, but her greatest joy was spending time with and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and her fiesty spirit will be missed by all. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 16, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Elder Charles Sutton and Elder Randy Redden officiating. Music will be rendered by Wanda Westmoreland and Kathy Akers. Elder Howard Locklear will officiate at the graveside. Interment will follow in the Buchanan City Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: John Smith, Dennis Price, Todd Mullins, Robin Morris, Walter Hammond and Clint Owens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
