Mr. Doyle Edward McWhorter, Sr., age 73, of Temple passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Mr. McWhorter was born in Haralson County on September 28, 1939. He was the son of the late Emmett McWhorter and the late Annie Mae Allen McWhorter. Mr. McWhorter was a very talented gospel musician and performed in many area Churches. He was also a retired police officer. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Arnold.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Maner McWhorter of Temple; three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Rev. C.W. Boling of Villa Rica, Cherie and Curtis McCormick of Tallapoosa and Debbie and Tony Stegall of White; three step daughters and two step sons-in-law, Dessie and Bobby Edwards of Temple, Deborah Baldwin of Ranburne, AL and Dewanda and David Thompson of Carrollton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Doyle Edward, Jr. and Kristy McWhorter of Cartersville, David and Tammy McEntyre of Taylorsville and Dewitt and Mildred McEntyre of Dallas; one step-son, Roy Thompson of Ranburne, AL; two brothers, Harold McWhorter of Tallapoosa and Buck McWhorter of McDonough; nineteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; many step-grandchildren; twenty five step-great grandchildren; one step-great great grandchild; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 28, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. from Steadman Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Whittington, Rev. Randy Robinson and Rev. Drew Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Steadman Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Curtis McCormick, Rev. C.W. Boling, Justin Bennett, Jessie Williams, Roy Thompson, Tony Stegall, David McEntyre, Theo Stegall and Chris Stegall. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Dickey and Sara Puckett, B.J. and Rose Waters, Lowell and Rouzelle Sanders, Eddie and Kathy Stephens and Jay Stegall.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and Friday from 12:00 Noon until 1:30 P.M.
