Dorothy Wynell Haynes, age 100 of Bremen, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 16, 1925, in the Buncombe Community, Dorothy's life was marked by unwavering commitment not only to her profession but to her loved ones, serving as the strong and steady glue that held her family together.  She was the daughter of the late Amos Horsley and the late Helen Willingham Horsley.  In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, James Bedford Haynes; her sons Mike and Johnny Haynes; and her siblings: Ethel League, Paulene McGinnis, Floyd Horsley, and Neal Horsley.

A high school graduate, Dorothy furthered her education by earning a certificate in nursing, a milestone she regarded as one of her proudest accomplishments. Her career in nursing allowed her to touch countless lives with compassion and expertise, particularly in her role as a school nurse. With her talent for sewing, Dorothy spent her final 20 years of employment as a seamstress until her retirement.

Dorothy was a woman of many passions and talents. She found joy in playing Nintendo with her grandchildren, gardening, and sewing, pursuits that reflected her youthful spirit and creativity. An avid reader, she enjoyed mystery novels and westerns. She also contributed articles to Reader's Digest, sharing her insights and experiences with a wider community. Those who knew her well described Dorothy as loving and young at heart. Dorothy Wynell Haynes leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion. Her memory will remain a cherished treasure to those fortunate enough to have known her, a testament to a life well lived and a heart infinitely generous.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Joye & Ricky Carroll of Bremen, David Haynes of Tallapoosa, Jerry and Nancy Haynes of St. Matthews, SC, and Phillip Haynes of Waco; her precious grandchildren: Tony, Steven, Crystal, Michael, Nikki, Corey, Hayley and Heather; 12 great grandchildren; special niece, Vivian League; several other great nieces and nephews and other relatives. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Haynes will be conducted Sunday, May 24th, at 3:00 PM at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Brother Ronald Carroll officiating with eulogies provided by the family. In accordance with her wishes following the services, she will be cremated.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
