Dorothy Lucile Bowling, age 96 of Buchanan, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 5, 2025.  Born in Huntsville, Alabama, on November 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Dewey E. Coker and the late Sue Mitchell Coker Combs.  In addition to her parents, Lucile is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Reed Bowling, her sisters, Catherine Spenser and Mary Cates, and her brothers, Carl Coker, Robert Coker, Elton Coker and Welton Coker.

Lucile and Ralph moved from Clarkston to Buchanan in 1979.  She was the best mom, grandma, and great grandma there was.  Taking care of her family and her home, especially cooking for them, was her main priority.  Staying busy with her hands, Lucile was also an accomplished seamstress and spent many hours working in her flower beds.  In her younger years, she enjoyed camping and fishing with the family. This precious lady will be missed by all who loved her.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: James Franklin & Michelle Bowling of Norcross, Judy & Gerry Dale of Ocala, Florida, Richard & Cherrie Bowling of Carrollton, Cindy & Jerry Gilbert of Dahlonega, and Chris Bowling of Temple.  Also surviving are her precious grandchildren: Alec, Tonya, Jennifer, Tammy, Matthew, Bryan, Chet, Michelle, and Shannon; 14 great-grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.

Funeral services for Lucile Bowling will be conducted on Wednesday, January 8,  2025, at 2:00 PM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kenny Teal and Scott Robinson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Bremen.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from Noon until the funeral hour.
