Doris Moree Wallace, 89
Former Dougherty Co. resident Doris Wallace, 89, passed away January 14, 2013, at her home in Conyers, Georgia. A private graveside service will be held on Friday, January 18th at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany. Ms. Wallace served two years in the United States Navy during World War II. She was a photographer and a proud member of the Navy Basketball Team. After returning home to South Georgia she married Cecil Wallace in August of 1945. Mr. Wallace passed away in 1964; they had been married for 18 years and had two children. She later relocated to the Atlanta area to be near her two grown children. Mrs. Wallace loved to cook and plan parties and found the perfect job with the State of Georgia. She served as the Banquet and Food Services Manager for over twenty-five years. She loved to watch sports on television and was an avid Braves fan. After Bobby Cox retired she received an autographed photo of the legendary manager and it was prominently displayed in her den. She is survived by her son, James C. Wallace; her daughter, Toni W. Brown; grandchildren, Nicole W. Burton; Jessica W. Huey; Hunter W. Brown; and great grandchild Maggie Burton.
