Dora Corinne Walls Gable, age 84 of Bremen, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026, in a local hospital. Born in Bremen on April 19, 1942, she was the only child of the late Charles Wesley Walls and the late Vera Mozelle Davis Walls. In addition to her parents, Dora was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth Randall Gable, who passed away in 2024.
A 1960 graduate of Bremen High School, Dora went on to complete her studies at West Georgia College. She was awarded a scholarship in music and earned her Bachelors in Education with a minor in music. Dora began her teaching career in 1964 at Mt. Zion High School, but she spent over 30 years with the Haralson County School System where she retired in 1999. She taught for several years at Buchanan Junior High and moved to Haralson County High School after the schools consolidated. Hundreds of students passed through Mrs. Gable's English class at HCHS. Dora also played the organ and piano at the Buchanan Methodist Church for over 30 years. Her leisure time was spent with family, her cats, or reading. Her guilty pleasure was watching crime shows, and she especially loved British mysteries. Her beautiful smile, talented hands, and quick wit will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons and daughter-in-law, Cal Gable and Ethan & Wendi Gable, all of Bremen; her precious grandchildren: Paige & Luke Stevenson, Katelin & Trevor Jens, and Katie Gable; and her great-granddaughter, Daisy Stevenson.
In keeping with her wishes, Dora will be cremated.
The family requests that those desiring to honor Dora do so by making a donation to the Buchanan-Haralson Library to remember Dora's love for reading. You may send donations to Friends of the Library, PO Box 338, Buchanan, GA 30113
Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the Gable family.
