Mr. Donny Wayne Thompson, age 63, of Tallapoosa passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014.  Mr. Thompson was born in Polk County, Georgia on January 26, 1951.  He was the son of the late James Clayton Thompson, Sr. and the late Martha Carter Thompson.  Mr. Thompson was retired from the City of Tallapoosa Recreation Department.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosie Mae Williams and Barbara Ann Lyle.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Jarrell Thompson of Tallapoosa; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ann Collins and Johnny Carter of Tallapoosa, D'Ronica and Randy Morgan of Chatsworth and D'Lee Turner of Tallapoosa; three sons, Eric Thompson of Tallapoosa, Anthony Thompson of Missouri and Richie Truett of Tallapoosa; one sister, Linda Caldwell of Tallapoosa; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Opal Thompson and James and Brenda Thompson all of Rockmart; five grandchildren, Tessie Collins, Stephanie Bordelon, Jackie Turner, Logan Carter and Cheyenne Morgan; two great grandchildren, Marley McMichael and Sam Bordelon; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 5, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chester Pesnell and Rev. Kenneth Layton officiating.  Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Eric Thompson, Richie Truett, Anthony Thompson, Johnny Carter, Randy Morgan and Randy Lyle.  Serving as a  honorary pallbearer will be Logan Carter.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
