Donnie Ross Ballew, age 77 of Tallapoosa, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.  Born in Haralson County on May 17, 1948, he was the son of the late Arthur Clarence Ballew and the late Myrtie June Thompson Ballew.  In addition to his parents, Donnie is preceded in death by his sister Janice Thomas.

Donnie proudly served his country in the United States Army, completing two tours in Vietnam, and later continued his service in the National Guard for 10 years.  A dedicated and hardworking man, he retired from a career as a machinist.  Donnie had a deep love for the outdoors and cherished time spent with his friends and family.

One of his greatest joys in life was riding his Harley Trike - affectionately known as his "Girlfriend."  If you knew Donnie, you knew how much he loved to visit, joke, and stir up laughter wherever he went.  He had a unique gift for keeping everyone on their toes and took great pride in playfully aggravating those he loved most.  For Donnie, teasing was his love language - a sure sign you held a special place in his heart.

Left to cherish his memories are his children: Gary & Christina Ballew, Bryan & Melissa Ballew, Christy Lynn, and Shayna & Ken Moses; his precious grandchildren: Brittany Ballew, Ashley Ballew, BreAnna Moses, Kendra Moses, Dylan Moses, Luke Ballew, Rebecca Ballew, Rachel Ballew, Cade Lynn, and Cam Lynn; and one great-grandchild, Kennadi Posey.  Also surviving is his brother, Willard & Deborah Ballew, a number of extended family and friends.

The family will host a celebration of life for Donnie Ballew on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Beulah Baptist Church  with Bill Brown officiating.  Music will be provided by Bill Brown, Kristi Vines, Kendra Moses, Stacy Gilbert and Steven Bentley.  The family will visit with friends beginning at 1:00 PM (EST) at Beulah Baptist Church in Muscadine, Alabama.
