Mr. Donald Armous Poteet, age 80, of Buchanan passed away Friday, September 13, 2013. Mr. Poteet was born in Union County, Georgia on September 7, 1933. He was the son of the late William Thurston Poteet and the late Norma Harris Poteet. Mr. Poteet was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict and was retired from National Color Graphics. He was a deacon at Mount Zion East Baptist Church for over thirty years and had taught Sunday School for over thirty five years. Mr. Poteet loved to farm. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Alan Poteet.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Joyce Dover Poteet of Buchanan; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Rhonda Poteet of Buchanan; one sister and brother-in-law, Ella and C.V. Forrester of Conyers; one brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Janice Poteet of Blairsville; four grandchildren, Lee and his wife Cora Poteet, Breanna Poteet, Emily Poteet and Katrina Poteet; two great grandchildren, Autumn Poteet and Daniel Poteet; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 16, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Buddy Gentry officiating. Music will be rendered by Rev. Buddy Gentry. Interment will follow in Mount Zion East Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Lee Poteet, Norman Sadler, Danny Forrester, Chris Bacon, Matthew Stansel and Dean Stansel. Military funeral honors will be provided by the Haralson County Veteran''s Association.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
