Mr. Donald "Duck" Ploof, age 67, of 475 Wiley Rd., Cedartown passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome. Mr. Ploof was born in Haralson County on April 9, 1941. He was the son of the late Reford Ploof and the late Ethel McDowell Ploof. Mr. Ploof was a retired machinist with Rome Plow Co. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Barbara Ann Lankford, Anasteen Summerville and Estelle Swann; and two brothers, Dennis Ploof and Raymond Ploof.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Robbie Parton of Sevierville, TN; one son and daughter-in-law, Windell and Pamela Ploof of Temple; one sister and brother-in-law, Cleo and Carl Blair of Carrollton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Doris Ploof of Bremen and David and Mary Lou Ploof of Buchanan; two grandchildren, Devin Ploof and Cason Parton; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. from Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Ploof officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Steve Blair, Robert Moore, Todd Lankford, Derrick Lankford, Tyler Lankford and Kenneth Hulsey.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 P.M.
until 9:00 P.M. and Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel and Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
