Donald Jerry Gay, age 79 of Buchanan, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 3, 1944, to the late Buna Lee Gay and the late Bernie McCord Gay.

For over 30 years, Jerry was a well-known part of life in Buchanan.  Most days you would see him walking to town pulling his cart.  He was either going to the Piggly Wiggly, Buchanan Drugs, or Dollar General.  Or maybe Jerry was just sitting on the bench in front of Buchanan City Hall resting and greeting passers by.  He was always up for an adventure and loved to ride with anyone going his way.  He also enjoyed going out to eat with his family and friends.  Jerry will surely be missed by them and the citizens of Buchanan.

Survivors include his sister-in-law, Brenda Spinks; nieces and nephews, Patricia (Joe) Smith, Kristi (Michael) Dixon, Angel (Andrus) Brimidge, Tammy Gay, Edwina Halstead, Bill Smith, Dale Gay, Charles (Penny) Pope, Terry (Beverly) Smith, Almon (Linda) Pope and David Gay and several other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Midway Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Villa Rica with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Tony Smith, Charles Pope, Edward Pope, Dale Gay and Michael Dixon.
