Born on October 5, 1989, in Manhattan, New York, Derrick was a remarkable individual known for his unwavering commitment to both his family and his profession. His ability to go above and beyond what was expected of him was seen in his dedication as a great provider and protector for his family.
His colleagues and friends alike recognized him as an overachiever, driven by a set of goals that constantly pushed him to improve. Derrick had a range of hobbies and interests: music, games, sports, and cooking. Derrick was a great listener and friend; his personality shone brightly through his loving and caring nature. Derrick had an infectious smile that brightened the lives of those around him.
Derrick was a devoted husband to his wife, Kristy Cooley, and a dedicated father to his children and step children, also. His sons, Derrick, Ahmed Williams and also Brooklyn Cooley and Braydon Cooley. Derrick's parents were Dushun Barnes and Timothy Toppins, and his sister Dushun Dotson. He also had three dogs in his life, Amber, Blue Eyes, and Bella.
