David Anthony Pickens

David Anthony Pickens, age 72 of Villa Rica, peacefully passed away on June 9, 2026. Born on January 17, 1954, in Knoxville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Duane Pickens and Juanita Marie Pickens.  In addition to his parents, David is  preceded in death by his grandson, Joseph Phillips, and his siblings Duane Pickens, Jr. and Candiance Pickens Coffman. 

Throughout his years, David found comfort and fulfillment in simple pleasures that reflected his grounded nature. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the peaceful tranquility of the water.  His passion for sports was evident in his enthusiastic support of the Atlanta Braves baseball and the Tennessee Volunteer football teams. At home, David was dedicated to nurturing his yard and tending his flower garden. Evenings often found him engrossed in crime television shows, where his curiosity and sharp mind were always engaged. David’s legacy is most profoundly felt in the love and strength of his family, whom he held above all else. 

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Donna Tronco Pickens; his daughters: Brandi Michelle Pickens, Julie Marie Pickens Laxton, Amber Colleen Pickens, Sara Ann Pickens Petraska, and Jessica Lea-Pickens Duncan; his sons: Billy Huggins, Jack Huggins, Gary Chandler, and Joshua McMinn; his precious granddaughters: Marissa Smith, Tabitha Cooper, Illyanna Montgomery, Kylee Phillips, Magnolia Duncan, and Kensley McMinn; and his precious grandsons: Maurice Pickens, Guy Cooper, Matthew Phillips, Colt Petraska, and Charley Petraska.  Also surviving are his siblings Tanya Pickens Hiles, Leann Pickens, and Sherrie Pickens Clark and a number of nieces and nephews.
