Mr. David "Cricket" Irvin Payne, age 70, of Heflin, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017.  Mr. Payne was born in Tallapoosa, Georgia, on November 17, 1946.  He was the son of the late James "Dee" Luther Payne and the late Maggaline Hammond Payne.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Wysner Payne; one son, William Payne; and one brother, Jerry Payne.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Turner and Kevin Garret of Heflin, AL; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Denis Payne of Tallapoosa; one grandchild, Mercedes and her husband, Mark Ellison; two great grandchildren, Aubrey Ellison and Dakota Ellison; grandmother, Opal Arnold of Tallapoosa; and a number of other relatives.

In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, there will be no services and he was cremated.

Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
