Mr. Dan Lee Benefield, age 37, of Buchanan passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Mr. Benefield was born in Carroll County on April 19, 1973. He was the son of the late Melvin Harold Benefield and Brenda Lee Lanier Benefield. Mr. Benefield was a truck driver with Hat D Transport. Survivors include his wife, Melissa Harper Benefield of Buchanan; two daughters, Kenzie Benefield and Paislee Benefield both of Buchanan; two sons, Cameron Benefield and Brody Benefield both of Buchanan; one sister, Pam Luallen of Buchanan; one brother, Gary Benefield of Pell City, AL; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 4, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. from Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin McAdams, Rev. Chester Pesnell and Dr. Mason Bush officiating. Interment will follow in the Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Bill Johnston, William Verner, Cory Smith, Chip Gober, Brandon "Bones" Bates, Jim Dees, Tony Bell and Tyler Sanders. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Freddy Verner, Stoney Morris, Lamar Roberts, Ken Barkley and John "Blue John" Pope. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
