IN LOVING MEMORY OF
C.W.
Ploof
July 7, 1928 – October 4, 2024
C.W. Ploof, age 96 of Buchanan, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, October 4, 2024, at his home. Born on July 7, 1928, in Haralson County, he was the son of the late Bill Ploof and the late Minnie Ola Weaver Ploof. In addition to his parents, C.W. is preceded in death by his wife Jean Ploof; a sister Janell Akin; and a brother N.P. Ploof.
C. W. Ploof was a good Christian man with an amazing work ethic. He retired after 30 years from Ford Motor Company and then began his second career as the maintenance supervisor at the Buchanan Housing Authority. After 28 years there, he retired but did not slow down. He could be found working in his woodshop, working in his vegetable garden, or his favorite, working in his yard mowing grass. In his leisure time, C.W. enjoyed fishing. For more than 59 years, he was a devoted husband to his wife Jean. He was a great daddy and granddaddy and loved his family dearly. His humbleness, faith, kindness, and generosity will be his legacy for years to come.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughters and son-in-law, Vicki & Jerry Wright of Bremen and Rhonda & Barry Buttram of Buchanan; his grandchildren: Jayce (Lachrista Hulsey) Buttram, Josh (Olivia Ann Cox) Buttram, Laura (Michael) Deen, and Abbey (Jeremy) Dockins; his sisters, Betty Morris of Buchanan. Barbara (Jerry) Hagan of Bremen, and Frances Ploof of Buchanan; and his brother, Ralph Ploof of Buchanan. Also surviving are his precious great-grandchildren: Kipton Buttram, Kamryn Buttram, Ella Buttram, Natalie Deen, Mary Kate Deen, Hudson Dockins, and Sutton Dockins; and his wonderful caregiver, Sherry Robinson.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 4:00 PM until the 7:00 PM at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services for C.W. Ploof will be conducted on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Jerry Wright and Josh Buttram giving eulogies and Rev. C.W. will be laid to rest at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Randy Hagan, Richard Hagan, Donald Ploof, Scott Ploof, Mark Bush, and Barry Redding.
