Ms. Clovis Kate Biggers Momon, age 67, of 4344 Hwy. 120, Buchanan passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007. Ms. Momon was born in Haralson County on February 21, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Loyd Thomas Biggers and the late Mary Clotele Shoemake Biggers. Ms. Momon was graduated from Buchanan High School, Reinhardt College, Georgia Southern College and West Georgia College. She taught school in Buchanan for 30 years until her retirement in 1994. After retirement, she traveled extensively in England, Wales and Ireland. Ms. Momon served as the Mayor of Buchanan from 1996 until 2000 and was a member of numerous civic organizations including the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Haralson County Retired Teachers Association, Haralson County Chamber of Commerce (serving on the Board of Directors), Downtown Buchanan Revitalization, Friends of the Buchanan/Haralson Public Library, Haralson County Historical Society and was a mentor at Haralson County Middle School. She was also a very active member of the Buchanan United Methodist Church where she was currently serving as the Chairperson of the Staff-Parrish Relations Committee. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hal H. Biggers and Joseph Loyd Biggers. Survivors include one sister, Caroline Wright of Marietta; one brother, Benjamin Biggers of Buchanan; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. from the Buchanan United Methodist Church with Rev. Carol Scroggs, Rev. Mary Lou Gilbert and Danny Hutcheson officiating. Special music will be rendered by Samantha Tucker. Dora Gable will be the provide piano music. Interment will follow in the Buchanan City Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Brandon Overby, Tommy Skidmore, Wayne Merrell, Roy Bolden, John Labo and Lee Carroll. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
