Claudia Geraldine Thompson

Claudia Geraldine Blackmon Thompson, age 79 of Buchanan, passed away Friday, August 21, 2026.  Born in Buchanan, Georgia, on November 16, 1946, she was the daughter of the late H.P. "Bud" Blackmon and the late Era Sanders Blackmon. In addition to her parents, Claudia is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jesse Ray Thompson; her sister, Annice Blackmon Swann, and her brother, Leon Blackmon.

A life-long resident of Haralson County, Claudia enjoyed country living. Being outdoors working with her flowers brought her hours of enjoyment.  Claudia also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds come to feed.  A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her family was her life. Her warm, loving spirit will be missed by all who loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, Troy & Rachel Thompson of Buchanan and Lisa & Edward Howle of Helfin, AL; her precious grandsons: Zach & Morgan Thompson, Jacob & Heather Thompson, Joseph & Natalie Thompson, and Luke Thompson; her sweet great-grandchildren: Sadie, Willow, and Daisy; her sister-in-law, Fay Blackmon; and a number of extended family.

Funeral services for Claudia Thompson will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 24th, at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Elder Eddie Davidson officiating.

A private interment will follow in the Piney Woods Community Cemetery with Edward Howle, Spencer Sheffield, Zach Thompson, Jacob Thompson, Joseph Thompson, and Luke Thompson serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Monday, prior to the service, from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
