Claire Terrell Harris

Claire Terrell Harris, age 79 of Bremen, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 27, 2026.  Born in Hulett, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Otis Andrew Terrell and the late Annie Gore Terrell.  In addition to her parents, Claire was preceded in death by her husband, Freddy Louis Harris; her sisters, Flo Ellen Gold and Evelyn Watson; and her brothers, Dalton, Marrell, Robert, Marion, Raymond, and Gene Terrell.

A 1966 graduate of Heard County High School, Claire spent her working career as a seamstress. She was very creative and had a passion for reading and writing. Claire was in the process of completing her autobiography; she had so many stories tell of her almost 80 years on earth.  Planting and cultivating beautiful flowers was also a favorite pastime, as was listening to gospel music.  Claire never met a stranger and could talk to anyone.  Being from a large family, family was very important to her and the title "Mawmaw" was music to her ears.  As important as her family was, her faith was what kept her going.  Claire was a member of Freedom Missionary Baptist Church.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Amanda (Anthony) Harper and Amber Miller, both of Bremen; her precious grandchildren: Nichole (Carson) Ogle, Mark Harper, Briar (Kameron) Harper, Madison Miller and Cora Miller; and her sweet great-grandchildren: Ryleigh, Kiason, and Katie Eve.  Also surviving are two sisters Geraldine (Ray) Jarrell and Ruth (Larry) Holder; two brothers, Merele (Melanie) Terrell and Jerry Terrell; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Claire Harris will be conducted on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Brother Shae Tallent officiating and Amanda Harper giving the eulogy.  She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Tallapoosa Primitive Baptist Church in Carrollton.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour.
