Cindy van Donk Barfield, age 55 of Rockmart, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022, after a brief illness.  She was born in Elkhart, Indiana, on November 21, 1966, to the late Cornelus and Linda Wolph van Donk. In addition to her parents, Cindy is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Barfield, and a granddaughter Katie Tangney.

Before moving to Georgia, Cindy spent most of her life in Florida.  She grew up with a passion for horses and loved horseback riding. Her love in later life was playing with her grandchildren.

Cindy is survived by her significant other, Anthony Priest of Rockmart; her sister, Ann Kirwin of Rockmart; her daughters, Nicole Tangney of Massachusetts; Angel Smith of Ellijay; and Misty Gardner of Ellijay; her son, Tony Barfield of Ellijay; and her precious grandchildren: Emma Tangney, Alex Tangney, and Sarah Neal.  Also surviving are her special friends, the musketeers,  Gina Bowling, Toni Jackson, Deanna Stuckey, Cheryl Long, and Rhonda Fields. Cindy never met a stranger and all her friends are family.

In accordance with her wishes, Cindy will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be planned for a later date.  The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
