Mr. Charles Lee Payton, age 72, of Buchanan passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015.  Mr. Payton was born in Haralson County, Georgia on May 30, 1943.  He was the son of the late Alford Lee Payton and the late Ruth Costley Payton.  Mr. Payton was the owner of Charles Payton Trucking.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Baker Payton of Buchanan; one daughter and son-in-law, Freida and Jeff Watson and grandson, Zachery Watson all of Acworth; one son, Donnie Lee Payton of Carrollton; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Harold and Kathy Payton and Fred Payton all of Buchanan; one sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Fred Hammond of Bremen; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 3, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. from Mountain View Baptist Church in Paulding County with Rev. John Smith and Rev. Ralph Ploof officiating.  Music will be rendered by Sheree Smith.  Interment will follow in Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Chad Henderson, Mike Smith, Corky McDaniels, Jimmy Smith, Brandon Bates and Jeff Watson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
