Mrs. Carolyn Faye Gilliam Maze, age 64, of Franklin passed away Friday, April 15, 2011. Mrs. Maze was born in Gate City, Virginia on June 1, 1946. She was the daughter of the late James Curtis Gilliam and Nora Bishop Vayo. Mrs. Maze was retired from the fishing boat charter business in Florida that she assisted her husband in operating. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Vayo. Survivors include her husband, Ronald Maze of Franklin; one daughter, Paula Liedtka Cruz of Thornhurst, PA; mother, Nora Bishop Vayo; two sisters, Shirley Apple-Shoup of Bradford, OH and Gale Markel of Tulsa, OK; one brother, James Curtis Gilliam of Trenton, NJ; five grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Memorial services will be conducted Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. EST from Flat Rock Congregational Methodist Church in Randolph County, AL with Rev. Jimmy Keel officiating. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
