Carole Dianne Peek Tyra, age 79 of Buchanan, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, in a local hospital.  Born in Cedartown, Georgia, on August 4, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Lester V. Peek, Sr and the late Laura Peek.  In addition to her parents, Carole is preceded in death by her sister, Sybil Peek, and her brother, Lester "Dale" Peek, Jr.

Carole truly enjoyed cooking, especially baking. For years, she baked beautiful wedding cakes for brides and was a wedding planner.  In her later years, she was employed by the Haralson County School System as a lunchroom lady at Haralson County High School and retired there after 12 years.  She was a cat lover and will be missed greatly by her cat, Callie.  Her beautiful personality and face will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons and daughter-in-law, David & Lynda Tyra of Buchanan and Jeffrey Tyra of Muscadine, Alabama; her grandchildren: Ivory Tyra, Sydney Tyra, and Jimmy Brandon & Amber Tyra.  Also surviving are her precious great-grandchildren: Alli Tyra, Tucker Tyra, Talon Tyra, and Aiden Tyra as well as a number of other family and friends.

A graveside memorial service for Carole Tyra  will be conducted on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 11:00 AM from New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery in Tallapoosa with Rev. Dr. Aaron Johnson officiating.
