Carol Jean Hudgens, age 83 of Bremen, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026. Born in Tampa, Florida, on July 13, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Harry Thomas and the late Mattie Jo Stephens. In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her sons, Travis Mashburn, Sr. and Kenneth Mashburn.
Jean loved spending time outdoors, especially enjoying quiet afternoons on the porch of her place at the lake—a tranquil retreat where she found peace and inspiration. An avid treasure hunter at auctions, Jean had a particular fondness for discovering antiques, which she used to beautifully decorate her home. Her keen eye and love for creating inviting and meaningful spaces were admired by all who knew her. Family was at the heart of Jean's life. She was devoted to those she held dear, sharing countless moments filled with love and laughter. Carol Jean Hudgens leaves behind a legacy of kindness, beauty, and enduring love.
Jean is lovingly remembered and survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Steve Lonigan, of Douglas; her grandsons, Nicolas Ivey and wife Amy, Travis Mashburn, Jr. and Michael Mashburn; her great-grandchildren, Madelyn Ivey and Nathan Gilbert; and her significant other, Billy Hudgens.
A Celebration of Life to honor Jean's memory will be held on May 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel & Crematory, located at 71 Park Heights Drive, Buchanan, GA 30113. The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 PM until the service hour.
