Calvin Douglas Summerville, age 80 of Rockmart, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023, in a local hospital.  Born in Buchanan on November 14, 1943, he was the son of the late Chalmus Summerville and the late Frankie Weaver Crawford. In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by brothers, Joe Summerville and Cecil Summerville, and his sister, Lucy Carter.

Doug retired from the Georgia Power Company where he worked for many years as a lineman foreman.  In his early years, he enjoyed hunting and in later years he spent time gardening.  Doug not only grew vegetables, but also cultivated and grew blueberries and blackberries.  He enjoyed life and spending time with his family and special companions, Bandit and Zoe, his Jack Russell Terriers.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Lynn Summerville; his son and daughter-in-law, Buck and Sissy Summerville of Dallas; his step-daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Billy Fincher of Temple; and his grandchildren, Chase Summerville, Tori Fincher, and Elizabeth Fincher.  Also surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Sarah Summerville of Bremen and Wayne and Vera Summerville of Cedartown.

Funeral services for Doug Summerville will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 29, 2023, from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Marty Hulsey officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, December 28th, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
