Obituary

Buford Roberson, age 79, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, at his home in Buchanan, Georgia.  Born on August 12, 1945, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, his journey through life was marked by his unwavering resilience, patriotism, strength, sense of humor and his love for Alabama football.

Buford proudly served in the United States Army from 1962 - 1965, and he then pursued a career in building transmissions.  He always said, "Find what you do best, and do the best," and he did just that, earning himself a name for being the best transmission man around.  His work not only reflected his skills, but also his work ethic and dedication to quality and reliability.  Buford's passions extended beyond his work bench.  He was an ardent fan of Alabama football and basketball and enjoyed throwing horse shoes and shooting pool.  His competitive nature was rewarded with many trophies for both sports.

He will be missed by many and remembered for the laughter and smiles he brought to everyone.  You cannot mention his name without a huge smile and great story.  He faced everything life threw at him bravely and courageously and never once complained about anything.  He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the memories of a life well lived. Those who knew him will remember him as a man of great character and as a loyal friend. His passion was spending time with his family and enjoying the warm weather.

Buford is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mable Roberson, and his brothers, Brown Roberson and Joe Roberson.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughters and son-in-law, Carole & David Dempsey of Temple and Beth Ondovcsik of Dallas; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Angela Roberson of Dallas; his sister, Pat Phillips of Alabama; his brother, Jim Roberson of Georgia; and his long time companion, Shelby Hardin of Buchanan, and her children, Johnny Hardin and Andy Hardin.  Also surviving are his precious grandchildren and their spouses: Cory & Cindy Davis, Taylor Nobriga, Blake & Amanda Roberson, Brittney & Brandon Austin, and Brooke Ondovcsik; his great-grandchildren: Presleigh Nobriga, Audree Nobriga, River Roberson, Brayden Austin, and Bryleigh Austin; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

In keeping with Buford's wishes, he will be cremated.

Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the cremation needs of the Roberson family.
