Brenda Lee Lanier Benefield, age 77, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, in a local hospital.  Born on February 6, 1947, in Tallapoosa, she was the daughter of the late J.T. Lanier and the late Sarah Holcombe Lanier.  In addition to her parents, Brenda is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Harold Benefield, her son, Dan Lee Benefield, her brother, Donald Lanier, and her grandchild, Katrina Benefield.

Brenda was a graduate of West Haralson High School and work as a seamstress for many years.  Her family was her passion, and she enjoyed attending as many of her grandchildren's extra curricular activities that she could.  Brenda always wanted to be involved in their lives, even making recipe books for them.  She loved cooking and really enjoyed watching Brenda Gantt cook on Facebook.  Brenda will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Her survivors include her grandchildren: Cameron Benefield, Kenzie Benefield, Paislee Benefield, Brody Benefield, Gracie (Bryant) Dukes, Sarah Baxter, Will (Alisha) Benefield, Josh (Shayla) Benefield, and Chad (Jody) Hyatt; a son, Gary Benefield of Alabama; a daughter, Pam (Joe) Kelly of Buchanan; and her brother, James Lanier of Tallapoosa.  Also surviving are great-grandchildren: Stetson Dukes, Alli Hyatt, Layla Hyatt, Tenzley Hyatt, Charleigh Hyatt, Chadence Hyatt, MaKenzie Trivett, Kylee Trivett, Aiden Benefield, Austin Benefield, Aubrie Benefield, and Braylin Benefield; her daughter-in-law, Melissa Westmoreland; and a number of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Brenda Benefield will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Brother Ray Tant officiating.  Interment will follow in the Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will received friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from Noon until 3:00 P.M.
