Billy Wayne Morris, age 85 of Buchanan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2024.  Born in Buchanan, Georgia, on November 10, 1938, he was the son of the late John Dewey Morris and the late Velma Perry Morris.  In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Agnes Cook Morris, his son, David Morris, and his brothers, J.D. Morris and Herschel Morris.

Billy was employed by American Can Company for many years and retired as a chemical technician.  As a young man, he enjoyed spending time outdoors bird hunting, and as he aged he still spent many enjoyable hours outdoors fishing. Billy kept an immaculate yard to highlight the beautiful flowers that Agnes grew.  They also loved traveling to the mountains with family and friends.  But most of all, Billy loved his family, especially his great grandchildren. As a man of faith, he was a long time member of New Vision Church of God.

His survivors include his granddaughter, Heather & Doug KIrby; his great grandchildren Madison KIrby and Easton Cole Kirby, all of Temple; his daughter-in-law, Rachel Davis of Fruithurst, AL; his brother, Ray Morris; and other extended family members and many friends.

Funeral services for Billy Morris will be conducted on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Brother Roy Frashier officiating.  Interment will follow in the Buchanan Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home..
