Betty M. Luker

Mrs. Betty Luker, age 89 of Buchanan, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2026, in a local hospital.  Born in Fruithurst, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late William Hamilton McKenzey and the late Nellie Morris Baggett.  In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Amos Luker; her sister, Sarah Huckeba; and her brother, Daniel McKenzey.

A devout Christian woman, Betty loved worshipping at New Testament Church of God. God was her source of strength and her family was her pride and joy.  She took great care of her boys and was an excellent cook.  Betty's biscuits and gravy, meatloaf, and banana pudding were her family's favorites.  She enjoyed going on vacation trips with her family, sitting on the porch, and going for walks.  Shopping was her guilty pleasure, but Betty was only interested in buying for others not for herself. She was the most giving person to family and friends. Her beautiful spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons and daughter-in-law, Larry Luker and David Luker of Buchanan, and Randy & Sherri Luker of Calhoun; her precious grandchildren: Tyler Luker, Lauren Luker, Brittany Luker-Melendez, Crystal Luker, Heather Luker Newman, Corey Luker, and Adam Luker; and 5 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is her brother and sister-in-law, Buddy & Shirley McKenzey of Tallapoosa, and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family. 

Funeral services for Betty Luker will be conducted on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bennie Westmoreland and Brother Robert Vines officiating.  Following the service, she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Harmony Grove Cemetery in Fruithurst, Alabama.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 8:00PM and again on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
