Mrs. Barbara Carmita Moffitt Murphy, age 72, of 222 Floyd Rd., Buchanan passed away Monday, January 4, 2010. Mrs. Murphy was born in Macon County, North Carolina on July 27, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Harry Moffitt and the late Thelma Carnes Moffitt. Mrs. Murphy was a homemaker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Murphy. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheree and Ronnie Kimballl of Buchanan and Sandra and Mike Johnson of Buchanan; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Randy and Charon Griffin of Ellijay, Alan Griffin of Covington and Charles and Michelle Murphy of Rock Hill, SC; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jewel and John Troy of Fairburn and Brenda Moffitt of Springhill, TN; one brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Brenda Moffitt of Moreland; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Danny Hutcheson officiating. In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, the body was cremated. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
