Mr. Calvin Artemus Philpot, age 83, of Buchanan passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014.  Mr. Philpot was born in Haralson County, Georgia on January 14, 1931.  He was the son of the late Joe Philpot and the late Elsie Grant Philpot. Mr. Philpot was a veteran of the United States Army and was self employed in the timber industry.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Emory Philpot.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Mullins Philpot of Buchanan; one son and daughter-in-law, Calvin and Jeanette Philpot of Buchanan; two sisters, Janice Bowman of Douglasville and Mattie Jane Martin of Griffin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Velda Philpot and Commodore and Nan Philpot all of Buchanan; three grandchildren; and a number nieces, nephews and also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Brannon, Rev. Thomas Ward and Rev. Mason Bush officiating.  Interment will follow in Tallapoosa East Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Joey Philpot, Craig Philpot, Chris Easterwood, Ed Shealey, Jim Lepard and Phillip Morton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
