August 28, 1967 – September 15, 2024
April Dawn Ploof Carroll, age 57 of Bremen, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024, after a brief illness. Born on August 28, 1967, in Rome, she was the daughter of the late John Robert Ploof and the late Beatrice Lucille Swafford Ploof. In addition to her parents, April is preceded in death by her first husband, Alan Poteet, and her second husband, David Carroll; her sister, Tammy Ploof, and her brother, Eddie Hart.
Known as "Mingo" to her grandchildren, April loved her family and taking care of others. She spent more than 25 years working as a CNA. April spent many years working at Countryside Nursing Home and her last work was with the children of the Key Foundation. She loved to read and take care of her fur baby, Kobi. Her beautiful, caring heart will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Lee (Cora) Poteet of Buchanan, Sara Tittle of Temple, and Brandon Carroll of Buchanan; her sisters, Rena (David) Maner of Bremen and Cathy Bentley of Georgia; and her brothers, Robert Ploof of Bremen and Randy Ploof of Bremen. Also surviving are her precious grandchildren: Autumn Poteet, Daniel Poteet, Donald Poteet, River Bissell; her great-grandchild, Korrie McGuire; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services for April Carroll will be conducted at 2:00 PM, on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Patty Hutcheson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion East Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Lee Poteet, Daniel Poteet, Chris Bentley, Johnathan Maner, Michael Butler, and Ronald Arp. Honorary pallbearers will be River Bissell, Donald Poteet, and Korrie McGuire.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from Noon until 2:00 P.M.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to help cover her funeral expenses. April lost her insurance when she could no longer work due to her illness. Donations may be made online on our website's home page, by phone, or in person.
