Mrs. Ann Payton Cox, age 71, of Buchanan passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Mrs. Cox was born in Buchanan, Georgia on March 22, 1943. She was the daughter of the late James Otis Payton and the late Louise Kiser Payton. Mrs. Cox was retired school teacher with the Douglas County School System. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Longworth Cox; and one brother, Anthony Payton.
Survivors include one niece, Rebecca Harris and her husband Michael of Buchanan; three nephews, Phillip Payton and his wife Ashley of Buchanan, Andrew Crossley of Buchanan and John Crossley of Buchanan; sister-in-law, Linda Crossley and her husband Ray of Buchanan; uncle, John Payton of Canton; three great nieces; four great nephews; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Dr. Mason Bush and Rev. Randy Robinson officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Mausoleum with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Michael Harris, Evan Harris, Caleb Payton, John Crossley, Andrew Crossley and Ray Crossley.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.
