Andrea Dawn Higgins

Andrea Dawn Higgins, formerly of Tallapoosa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on January 22, 1960, in Carrollton, Georgia, she was the daughter of Carolyn "Big Mama" Adams Cash. Andrea is reunited in spirit with her cherished mother, "Big Mama", her sister, Sherry Howard, and her precious granddaughter, Madison Ploof.

Andrea was a beacon of warmth and joy, known for her engaging personality and gift for conversation; she truly never met a stranger. Not only was she a devoted hard worker, but her heart was equally dedicated to her family and the passions that filled her life. Andrea found joy in traveling, particularly out west where the majestic mountains held a special place in her heart. An enthusiastic lover of arts and crafts, antiquing, and the thrill of discovering hidden treasures, Andrea's creativity manifested in everything she touched. Whether she was crafting intricate projects or curating charming finds, her legacy of artistry will continue to spark joy in the hearts of her loved ones.

Andrea leaves behind a beloved family, including her devoted sons: Anthony Ploof of Alabama, Jeremy & Shondra Ploof of Carrollton, Jamey & Olivia Ploof of Carrollton, and Cruz & Nicole Lake of Bremen. Her grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Nanny"—Austin Ploof, Jamee Ploof, Shane Ploof, Jayden Lake, Aurick Lake, Nikolas Lake, Raylon Ploof, Macy Cole, Gracie Stone, Kasey Pope,  Wade White, Cayden and Kailee Smith and Carlysle and Stephen Turner—were a source of pride and happiness, brightening her days with their love. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Easton Pope, Ryleigh Pope, Nora White, Oaklee Smith, Silas Smith, Blaine Turner, Paisley Turner, Callie Turner, McCabe Duncan and Morgan Duncan, and her brother, Heath Cash of Alabama.

Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory in Buchanan, GA. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 at the funeral home.
