Mr. Alonzo "Bud" Purcell McPherson, age 93, of Bremen passed away Friday, June 3, 2016.  Mr. McPherson was born in Bremen, Georgia on January 1, 1923.  He was the son of the late Ivey Hoke McPherson and the late Nellie Hamrick McPherson.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Richards McPherson; one sister, Bonnie Campbell; and one brother, E.M. "Buck" McPherson.

Mr. McPherson was a veteran of the United States Air Corp serving during World War II.  He was a retired from Atlanta Dairies.  Soon after retiring from Atlanta Dairies, he began his second career working as a funeral assistant at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel for nineteen years before retiring for a second time at age 85.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy and her husband, Mike Cheshier and Paula McIntosh all of Bremen; one sister, Edna Barton of Bremen; one brother, J.E. and his wife, Barbara McPherson of Bremen; four grandchildren, Meredith and her husband, Bobby Thomson, Daniel and his wife, Britany McIntosh, Leah Cheshier and Emily Cheshier; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. from Bremen First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gerald Varner and Danny Hutcheson officiating.  Vocal selections will be provided by Leah and Emily Cheshier. Piano music will be provided by Lynn Hodges.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Robbie Threadgill, John Snuggs, Ricky Dobbs, Eddie McPherson, Chenault Cockrell and Ray Morris.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
