Mrs. Alma Patricia "Pat" Marxsen Barnes, age 87, of 330 Addison Rd., Buchanan passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009. Mrs. Barnes was born in Elk County, Pennsylvania on August 15, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Ferdinand Christian Marxsen and the late Alma Curran Marxsen. Mrs. Barnes was retired from United Parcel Service. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Raymond Barnes.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Clarie and Robbie Strickland of Buchanan and Irene and Wayne Graves of Smyrna; one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Richardson of Decatur, AL; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 27, 2009 at 4:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Danny Hutcheson and Rev. Patrick Orr officiating. Music will be rendered by Rev. Jimmy Sanders and Rev. Patrick Orr. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Robbie Strickland, Patrick Orr, Preston Orr, Bobby Prater, Tommy Strickland and Justin Strickland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 3:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
