Mowery
August 30, 1934 – August 7, 2025
Alice Elizabeth Gordon Mowery, age 90 of Bremen, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 6, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Haralson County on August 30, 1934. she was the daughter of the late Joseph Carl Gordon and the late Lois Mildred Eady Gordon. In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy "Pete" Folsom; her daughters, Debra Brown and Donna McCain; her son, Kenneth Folsom; sisters, Millie Kinney, Mary Agan, Ruby Dobbs; and her brothers Joseph Carl Gordon, Jr, Charles Gordon, and Robert Gordon.
Alice was a Proverbs 31 woman, who believed in taking care of her family and others and working diligently for them and the Lord. She retired from the Arrow Shirt Company and was a Pink Lady at Higgins Hospital for many years. Helping others was her gift and she dearly loved being a Pink Lady, where she had served as Vice President and President of the auxiliary. Her love of nature was seen in the beautiful flowers she grew and the hummingbirds she fed. Alice and Nevin enjoyed attending gospel singings and were faithful members of Calvary Baptist Church. She delighted in spending quality time with her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called her "Granny." Proverbs 31:28, "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her."
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Nevin Mowery of Bremen; her children Kenneth Mowery of Bryson City, NC, Arlene (Boyd) Coggins of Tallapoosa, and Angela Cox of Bremen; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Weyman Gordon.
Funeral services for Alice Mowery will be conducted Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 3:00 PM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dr. Howard Mills and Rev. Tony Gordon officiating. She will be laid to rest at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Woody Coleman presiding and the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Lee Coggins, Michael Murray, Mike Kinney, Jerry Kinney, Tommy Shirey, and Gary Bradley.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
