Sandra (Pope) Johnson

Mrs. Sandra Pope Johnson, age 73, of Tallapoosa passed away Monday, September 18, 2017.  Mrs. Johnson was born in Tallapoosa, Georgia, on October 23, 1943.  She was the daughter of the late Gilbert Pope and the late Mattie Lou Williams Pope.  Mrs. Pope graduated from West Haralson High School and was the valedictorian of her class.  She and her late husband owned and operated a dairy farm for many years.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wayne Johnson; and one son, Randy Kenneth Johnson. 

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Brad Fogle of Lewistown, MT, and Julie and Tony Pope of Tallapoosa; one son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Mylinda Johnson of Tallapoosa; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Marlene Garner of Buchanan, Miranel Swafford of Tallapoosa, and Cynthia and Wendell Fielder of Buchanan; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Katie Pope, and Johnny and Sherry Pope all of Buchanan, and Tommy and Linda Pope of Dixie, GA; four grandchildren, Mallory and her husband Justin Akin, Tyler Gus Johnson, Morgan Leanne Pope and Carter Thomas Pope; two great grandchildren, Caleb William Akin and Barrett Luke Akin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. from Steadman Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Robinson officiating.  Music will be rendered by the Steadman Baptist Church Choir under the direction of June Walker.  Interment will follow in the Steadman Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Justin Akin, Denis Johnson, Greg Powers, Charles Johnson, Brad Fogle and Tony Pope.

The family will receive friends at Steadman Baptist Church Wednesday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
