Randall Ellis Obituary

Mr. Randall “Reed” Ellis, 78 of Carrollton, Georgia and formally of Huntertown, Indiana passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2019 with his loving wife and family by his side.  He was born January 27, 1941 in Auburn, Indiana.

Mr. Ellis was a 1959 graduate of Huntertown High School and soon after began employment at Canteen Corporation in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was there for over 30 years before joining his two daughters’ business, Simply Catering.  He retired in 2005.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Judith “Judy” Kay (DeVelbiss); 2 daughters: Jeannette “Jet” Ellis and Stephanie Ellis Freeman; 3 granddaughters: Nicole Chapman & PJ Parker, Alexis & Valentino Flores, Sr., and Gabrielle Freeman & Bryan Byrd; 4 great-grandchildren: Micah Chapman, Mia Chapman, Valentino Flores, Jr., and Alivia Byrd all of Carrollton, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law: Lester & Dorthey Waterson of Auburn, Indiana; 2 sisters: Donna Walker of Churubusco, Indiana and Wanda Potts of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his sister-in-law: Diane Croy of Yoder, Indiana; and a host of nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, John Randall and Wilma Vivian (Bond) Ellis, he was preceded in death by a brother: Ferris Croy of Yoder, Indiana, and 3 sisters: Ruth Wall and Lois Williams of Roanoke, Indiana, and Marjorie Henline of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Reed loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were his life.  He started a legacy of coming together every Wednesday night for Family Dinner.  His family has met for dinner every Wednesday for over 10 years.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Hope Church located at 306 Burns Road, Carrollton, Georgia, 30117.  Friends and family visitation will be at 5:30pm and service at 6:30pm.  The family welcomes you to dress casually.

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Ellis was cremated.

Cremation services are being provided by Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
