Ludie Herman Griffith

Mr. Ludie Herman Griffith, age 57, of Fruithurst, Alabama, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018.  Mr. Griffith was born in Piedmont, Alabama, on October 28, 1960.  He was the son of the late Paul Wilbur Griffith and the late Iver Grace Smith Griffith.  Mr. Griffith spent most his career in law enforcement having served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Haralson County Sheriff’s Department, as well other law enforcement agencies.  He was also an Emergency Medical Technician and had worked for Hutcheson Ambulance Service as well as other EMS services.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Arthur Griffith.

Ludie was a jack of all trades, a man that literally had Home Depot on his truck and trailer, the tree cutter, grass cutter, welder, sign maker, the there for whoever needed him, hardest working, never complaining, and all around overcomer for whatever hurdles life gave him.. He was friend to everyone he met.  The love, compassion and kindness of his big heart was felt by everyone he came in contact with.  Ludie can rest easy now, for his work here is done and heaven is now your home.

Survivors include his wife, Melissa McWhorter Griffith of Fruithurst, AL; three daughters and sons-in-law, Whitney and Jacob Holdbrooks of Tallapoosa, Rylee Griffith and Kenzlee Griffith both of Fruithurst, AL; two sons, Zach Griffith and Korbyn Griffith both of Fruithurst, AL; one grandchild, Piper Mae Holdbrooks; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. (Georgia Time) from Mount Paran Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Pike and Danny Hutcheson officiating.  Piano music will be provided by Avery McWhorter.  A song selection will be performed by the Mount Paran Church Choir.  Interment will follow in Mount Paran Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Zach Griffith, Korbyn Griffith, Stacy Williams, David Griffith, Dobie Smith, Jacob Holdbrooks, Alan Kiker and Chris Mixon.  Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Eric Tallent.

The family will receive friends at Mount Paran Baptist Church Sunday from 10:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. (Georgia Time).

Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
